Report of the Policy Committee 2001

During 2001, the policy committee conducted the following activities:

ü Commented on the proposed amendment to the Cherokee Forest Plan concerning Management Indicator Species. For comments, Richard Evans resent the Management Indicator Species comments originally submitted to the Cherokee by the K-T during the 1980’s.

ü Submitted a letter of support to the Lyme Disease Association for federal funding of research on Lyme disease. Letters of support of HR 1254, sponsored by Christopher Smith of New Jersey were sent to the Kentucky and Tennessee delegations. Responses pledging to monitor this legislation were received from Bob Clement, John Tanner, and Ed Bryant.
