2001 Annual Report

The following is a summary of activities the SETN SAF Chapter held during 2001:

Met on March 14, 2001 in Cleveland, TN to hear about past land use (mainly Civil War era) in the Chattanooga area.

Met on the Ocoee Ranger Dist. at the YMCA camp on Parksville Lake. The meeting was held on May 9, 2001. Bob Lewis discussed the preparation of this pine beetle salvage sale and its impacts.

· Met on July 11, 2001 at Camp Jordan near Chattanooga, TN. Linda Harris, Sr. Field Representative for TVA’s Resource Stewardship, discussed water quality and riparian zone management. This was a joint meeting with the NE GA SAF.

· The Chapter met on Sept. 20 at the East TN Nursery. Mr. Paul Ensiminger gave a tour and discussed operations of the nursery. The nursery is located in Delano, TN and covers 500 acres along the Hiawassee River.

Met Dec. 12, 2001 at East Brainerd Lumber Co., Inc. in Chattanooga, TN. Jay Kinser gave us a tour of his business, which has been in his family for three generations. Scotty Guffey made all the arrangements.
