100 to 125 were sent through the US Postal Service. Archives of the newsletters produced in 2004, are included on the
CD attached with this report.
The total cost of

Web Site
(www.ktsaf.org):
The K-T SAF Web Site continues
to serve as an important communications link with our members. The “K-T SAF News” section is the most
frequently updated portion of the web site.
This section aims to provide current local and national forestry-related
news and information to our members on a day-to-day basis. Members are encouraged to send information
to jmyoung@utk.edu for inclusion on the
site. It is helpful if you can provide
a link to the source of the information if one is available.
Another section of the
web site that is updated on a regular basis is the “Current K-T SAF Issues”
section. This area of the site is used
to highlight popular issues that have been identified by representatives of our
membership. Issues included and updated
recently include National Forest Planning and, most recently, The
Cumberland Plateau.
The web site now has a
password protected “Members Only” area.
To access this portion of the site logon with a username of: WSH115\forester
and a password of: saf1900.
CD Archives have been
produced that document the status of the web site as of March 2004, June 2004,
September 2004, and December 2004. Server
statistics on usage of the web site are also attached to this report. A budget request is hereby submitted for $480
($240 for web hosting; $100 for domain name renewal; and $140 for software
& misc. expenses).
Ideas, suggestions, and
volunteers for improvements to our web site are welcome! Chapter Chairs are encouraged to nominate
someone from their group to serve as an "information contact",
responsible for collecting news from their area and sending it to me for
inclusion on the web. Our web site
serves as an important communication tool for our organization, both internally
and externally. As such, information on
local news issues, committee reports, requests for input/involvement, meeting
announcements, etc. are particularly useful.
